Why not consider something entirely different for one of your INSET Training days in 2010 -2011? Despite the increasing use of technology, writing is still relevant in education and teachers have access to great amounts. Graphology is a projective technique that captures expressive movement: it is the ‘frozen body language’ of communication.
As a former teacher (PGCE and CELTA), I am often asked by colleagues in the profession what various letters and shapes mean. Given the high levels of interest, I have devised a programme, suitable for INSET training, to enable delegates decode the structure and form of handwriting for themselves. The workshop’s aim is to help teachers, and support staff, gain an understanding of basic graphological principles. Also, it is an opportunity for personal development because delegates study their own handwriting, as well as many other samples.
Information acquired throughout the day will be extremely useful for understanding what motivates an individual and how the interplay of different approaches can affect both relationships and classroom management. How we form, shape and space letters and words reveals: emotions, energy levels, thinking styles, communication skills, self-image, strengths and limitations, fears, problem solving, goal-setting, sociability, self-perception and much, much more.
While the spoken word can hide thoughts and feelings, genuine expression is evident in handwriting. Imagine being able to access this information and how helpful it could be for a classroom situation? I know! With an increased awareness, your staff could begin to anticipate and appreciate how frustration and misunderstanding can occur. This knowledge could be instrumental in effecting change.
My Graphology INSET workshop provides a learning opportunity that is both informative and experiential. Through studying their own writing and other samples, delegates should be able to understand why and how they, and others, act and react as they do. This then allows for the potential to make informed decisions about how to effect change.
Workshops can be arranged either on or offsite please contact me for workshop details.
