Who wouldn't be curious to discover what their handwriting says about them? A 'mini' analysis is a proven way of attracting visitors to stands at exhibitions and provides exhibitors the opportunity to engage with potential clients.
If you are looking for something different to offer to your clients consider handwriting analysis. Experience shows it is both popular and well received. Practically, all that is required is a quiet corner with a couple of chairs.
Graphology is not fortune-telling but a brief description of how an individual relates to the world; what motivates them; their self-perception and their reaction to any given situation. Analyses are carried out on a one-to-one basis and are never sensationalised by announcing the findings publicly.
Let’s face it: employing people can be an expensive business and mistakes can be both costly. When training, disruption, poor staff morale and sickness through stress are taken into account it can be up to the equivalent of two years’ salary.
Would you buy a house without having a survey done first? Through handwriting analysis it is possible to assess intelligence, motivation, personality, emotional maturity, ability, aptitude and attitude.
The following is an example from part of a report:
This is an extract from the conclusion to the report: Outwardly she appears to be controlled and composed but this belies her inner feelings of self-doubt and personal inadequacies. Her direct, no nonsense approach to life often does not sit well with others but she is shrewd enough to temper her opinions, preferring to keep her own counsel rather than engage in conflict. She is a determined individual who will achieve all that she sets out to, sometimes driving herself slavishly to that end but never at the expense of her duties or friendships.
Interviewers may pride themselves on being able to select the best candidate for a position but how often have they come to regret their choice? Is it really possible for interviewers to be truly objective and disregard their own beliefs and preferences? A candidate may be technically competent but if they are not able to establish good working relationships with the colleagues, management or subordinates it can be disruptive.
Graphology is a method of personality assessment and character assessment that is objective, cost-effective and quick, because there is no need to meet the individual face to face. Information available to an interviewer, such as dress, accent, body language can influence their choice – either overtly or subliminally.
No single test or method provides all the answers - people are too complex. However, when graphology is used in conjunction with other HR tools and resources, such as psychometric testing and assessment centres, it can provide valuable and objective insights to a person's character. The benefit of graphology is this information can be gathered from one decent handwriting sample.
Handwriting analysis is used, successfully, in France, Holland, other EC countries and the United States. Leading edge companies, such as Lloyds of London, Citibank, Dun and Bradstreet, Prudential, coca-Cola and Renault use graphology successfully. They acknowledge personality is as important as having the relevant paper qualifications.
Because of the recession, the number of people applying for vacancies has risen sharply and employers are being overwhelmed by the numbers responding to advertised positions. Prospective employees try many ways to make their application stand out. However, when candidates are encouraged to submit their applications/CVs on line or in typed form, can an employer really tell what the person is like? One method is to insist on a handwritten covering letter that, even to an untrained eye, highlights the different personalities applying.
Handwriting analysis should never be carried out without the permission of the writer but by stating “applications will only be considered with the inclusion of a handwritten covering letter that may be analysed as part of the selection process”. (Many individuals self select at this point by choosing to either ignore the request or not submitting an application).
